This state of the art transit platform is composed of a structural reinforced polymer composite formed into a pre-cast panel, which then incorporates a monolithic Diamond-Tek granite wearing surface.
Armor-Deck® products are fully AODA, CSA, ISO and OBC compliant. These detectable warning surfaces are manufactured using Comoldco’s highly specialized compression molding techniques to withstand the wear and tear of harsh climates and heavy pedestrian foot traffic. These tactile walking surface indicator products offer the natural wear resistance of granite and are corrosion resistant to salt, ice melting chemicals, acid rain and other chemicals commonly found on a transit platform. The high-density, non-porous material utilized in Armor-Deck® products resists the negative effects of freeze/thaw cycles and enhances the ease of maintenance.

Nexatherm® brings you the very best in frost, ice and snow removal on transit platforms! Traditionally, snow removal on transit platforms can be labour intensive and costly, but Nexatherm® makes it easier than ever. These controlled heating distribution panels for frost, ice and snow melting applications can be incorporated into Armor-Deck® structural composite platforms, bridges, ramps and stairs for new construction or installed retroactively over existing concrete.
The Nexatherm® system is activated during snowfalls, and only remains active during periods of snow in order to eliminate idling costs. Operating at high efficiency to reduce energy consumption, the Nexatherm® frost, ice and snow melting systems protect transit platforms from the use of salt and or other deicing chemicals, which can eat away at the concrete, as well as eliminating the physical damage caused by snow removal vehicles; ultimately extending the life of transit platforms in harsh climates.
Armor-Deck®’s At Grade Transits Boarding Platform saves time and money when it comes to installing tactile walking surface indicators, such as truncated dome tiles, on asphalt transit platforms. Much like Armor-Tile® truncated dome tiles, these tactile walking surface indicators (TWSI) from Armor-Deck® are light-weight and easy to install. In just one day, hundreds of linear feet of these detectable panels can be installed without the use of heavy equipment. Once installed, these truncated dome tiles are used as a form at one edge of the platform to place asphalt or pavers. Armor-Deck® detectable warnings can accommodate curved platforms and can contour to carrying elevations. The tongue and groove construction at panel joints help to achieve precise tolerances.
Armor-Deck®’s Elevated Transit Platforms utilize structural composite slabs instead of traditional materials like concrete, and has been developed to provide a much longer product lifespan than other materials. Armor-Deck® detectable warning panels are non-porous, leaving the product unaffected by temperature, water, salt or other ice melting chemicals. Concrete transit platforms have been proven to show signs of deterioration and require constant maintenance and replacement after 15-25 years. Armor-Deck® transit platforms, however, have been installed since 1999, require minimal maintenance and can continue to provide a safer transit platform indefinitely.

Armor-Deck® Composite Ramps incorporate the use of advanced materials to create the lightest weight products which can support heavy loads. Extensive prototype testing and FEA go into the design of every Armor-Deck® composite ramp to bring you the most innovative, lightweight and durable product available.
Armor-Deck® ramps are available as portable or fixed composite ramps. The portable ramps are used to move passengers between trains and elevated platforms where the gap is too wide to cross. Portable ramps may also be used in emergency situations to transport passengers between two trains. These ramps have been designed to exceed transit authorities’ and train car requirements for loading, weight, span and mounting.
The fixed composite ramps are used to permanently raise a concrete platform to the door level of trains, to meet accessibility code regulations. These ramps can quickly be installed under flagging and are ready for immediate use.
Armor-Deck®’s composite stairs are easily customized to your specifications and have a far longer lifespan than steel or concrete. Where salt or other corrosive elements would quickly wear down steel stairs, Armor-Deck® stairs are used to lengthen the lifespan of the stairs without the need for regular maintenance. The composite material of Armor-Deck® stairs is not affected by environmental factors, and stairs are available in different widths, lengths, finishes, and colours to best meet the needs of your transit facility. Aluminum stair treads are also available in various patterns and come in a heated version ideal for areas that would benefit from snow and ice melting.
